Planning your family vacation

AUTUMN FISKE | TRAVELLER’s TALES

It’s a lot of work and time to budget for your family vacation, while also planning that special trip for you and your family. That’s why when my clients come to me for advice. The first thing I ask is what type of family vacation they are looking for, as well as what their budget range is. Travel experts work with many different suppliers that can offer families great travel packages, as well as help families make memories of a lifetime. Here are some ideas that are great for family vacations.

All Inclusive vacation. This is probably the most affordable and inclusive style of a family vacation. Popular destinations for all inclusive resort styles are Mexico, Dominican Republic, Cuba, and Jamaica. You don’t have to worry about travelling far with your kids as your meals, accommodation, and entertainment such as water sports and land sports, concerts, etc. are all close by. If you decide to go off resort to do optional excursions they are usually only a short distance to the resort and they will have transportation to and from the hotel to your excursion.

Disneyland. Disney is said to be the happiest place on Earth and not just for your kids but also for yourself too! Have the chance to meet Mickey and Goofy and your kids can enjoy meeting Lilo & Stitch and all the princes and princesses. When I went to Disney in 2011, I met Mary Poppins, Winnie the Pooh & Tiger, Buzz Lightyear and Tinkerbell! Disney doesn’t just offer a vacation at their resorts in California or Florida, you can also experience Disney in Hawaii at some fabulous resorts with great excursions. Fun for all!

Disney cruise. This will be a cruise your kids will never forget. Unlike just any cruise, you’ll have Disney characters all around you at sea and some amazing onboard entertainment. Disney Cruise Line has various itineraries and destinations and even has its very own port of call to its own private island, Castaway Cay, in the Bahamas!

Guided Tour. There are many tour provides that create tour itineraries just for families. I work closely with a supplier who has a specialty with providing tours to families, allowing them to do activities together as well as interact with the culture and locals. Some places include Costa Rica, Peru, Vietnam, Thailand, and every kid’s dream, The Galapagos Islands! The best part is that you’ve got the security you need for your family. Organized groups help relieve stress for safety as well as not worrying about how to get to your next destination.
